Disruptive Innovation in Business is the Subject of a Seminar in Saskatoon

Being disruptive is usually frowned upon, but in business it could be lucrative.
Disruptive Innovation is the use of technology or ideas to make goods and services more attractive to consumers.
Greater Saskatoon Chamber of Commerce President and C-E-O Darla Lindbjerg says some major corporations have disruptive innovators on staff but it’s also key for small business owners or people looking to launch new ventures.
Lindbjerg says the process starts with keeping your eyes and ears open to key in on what consumers want and use technology to adapt ideas with the goal of making those goods and services more attractive than others on the market.
She points to UBER and Air B&B as examples of disruptive innovation while the demise of Blockbuster Video as a result of services like Netflix is another.
The concept is the subject of Wednesday’s chamber sponsored seminar at Prairieland Park’s World Trade Centre.
Disruptive Innovation expert Jim Harris is the keynote speaker for the session called “Pivot-The Opportunity of Disruption”.
The event also includes U-of-S President Peter Stoicheff and Saskatchewan Polytechnic President and C-E-O Larry Rosia.
