Saskatchewan’s tech sector has grown exponentially in the last few years.
Aaron Genest, a spokesperson with the non-profit organization SaskTech which represents the interests of technology businesses, says in 2015 only $3-million was distributed by venture capitalists to startup technology companies and in the first 11 months of 2019, $98-million was distributed.
Money used to be the biggest issue in this sector, but now it’s hiring skilled workers.
He explains that’s not just the people who can write the digital programs.
It’s also employees in areas like sales, marketing and administration who know how to use the technology and know how the technology companies work.
