The Manitoba government is again calling on Ottawa to better support health care by lowering borrowing costs.
Premier Brian Pallister says the province is spending beyond its means, due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
He says all of Canada’s premiers agree that Ottawa should immediately establish an emergency credit agency to borrow on the provinces’ behalf, because they can borrow at a much lower interest rate than the provinces.
Pallister adds the COVID-19 pandemic is undermining essential provincial borrowing capacity in many areas of the country.
