The Yorkton area has been selected for a dementia project, being led by the University of Regina.
The five-year study will fund 3 to 4 organizations to deliver services that support greater social inclusion of older adults living with dementia and their caregivers.
Yorkton was chosen because the region is thought to be an ideal place to explore what can best be done to enhance the quality of lives of people with dementia that live in smaller communities and rural areas.
Researchers also believe that services and supports that are shown to be effective in this part of the province, can be expanded to other rural communities in Saskatchewan.
