The Saskatchewan government has announced a 750-thousand-dollar investment in road safety projects, to benefit 66 communities across the province, including several in our listening area.
Yorkton will receive 11-thousand dollars, for the installation of a rapid flash beacon on Dracup Avenue, in the new year, while Springside will get just over 11-thousand, for “slower, safer” streets.
The R.M. of Buchanan will receive nearly 11-hundred dollars, for the installation of speed bumps and signage.
Esterhazy will see just over seven-thousand dollars go toward speed limit awareness, while the Key First Nation will receive almost 77-hundred dollars for traffic safety upgrades.
The R.M. of Foam Lake will also benefit, as just under 12-thousand dollars has been allocated there, for flashing speed display signs.
Kelvington will receive just over 71-hundred dollars will support their “Safety 2020” project.
In addition, Raymore gets $10,500 for digital speed signs, and over 84-hundred dollars will go to the village of Lipton, for their “Safety First/Speed Hurts” campaign.
The village of Bjorkdale also benefits, with just over 86-hundred dollars going toward the installation of a traffic speed display sign, while Endeavour will also see seven-thousand dollars for traffic speed display signs.
Finally, the R.M. of Emerald is also benefitting, with 67-hundred dollars for a speed control initiative.
The money comes from the proceeds of photo speed enforcement across the province, distributed through grants from the Provincial Traffic Safety Fund.
