SaskPower Wants To Expand Smart Meter Use

SaskPower has launched a pilot program to install “smart meters” in residential homes. The provincial power company has already put 35 thousand of them for commercial and industrial customers, and are now asking residential users to apply to have the technology put in. Customers can visit the SaskPower website to apply for a meter, which will be installed between May and August, free of charge. The device contains a chip which communicates things like power use and other data.
