For a third year, the Cancer is for the Birds program will team up with Brayden Ottenbreit Close Cuts for Cancer.
The Cancer is for the Birds campaign begins tomorrow (Sat), an initiative which Greg Ottenbreit says was started by Elgin Strocen.
“It was a little bit of a kickstart a couple years ago, sort of a less formal arrangement,” he said. “Last year he wanted to do something more formal so went at it pretty hard and we marketed the birdhouses…through Close Cuts, and then we did the pickups and deliveries to raise those funds.”
The birdhouses were originally built by Strocen, before his passing, and the project will be taken over by Scott Sharpe and Darren Smith.
“They loved the program, they loved what Elgin started,” said Brayden Ottenbreit Close Cuts for Cancer Co-founder Leone Ottenbreit of Sharpe and Smith. “They’ve known Elgin for years so they wanted to carry on what he started.”
Residents can purchase birdhouses from Brayden Ottenbreit Close Cuts For Cancer by sending an email to [email protected]. All the proceeds goes towards the Cancer Foundation.
The Cancer for the Birds campaign will be run through Brayden Ottenbreit Close Cuts for Cancer’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram platforms.
