First Court Appearance Made by Man Who Escaped Esterhazy RCMP Custody

A man who escaped the custody of Esterhazy RCMP has made his first court appearance.

The search for 27-year-old Jason Mitton began Tuesday morning (July 13) when he escaped from RCMP custody at the Esterhazy hospital.

Mitton was eventually located in a rural area several kilometres east of the town.

He was in Broadview Provincial Court today (Wed) on charges of Assault, Assault on a Peace Officer, Mischief Under 5-Thousand Dollars, Fail to Comply with an Undertaking and Attempt to Escape Lawful Custody.

He has been remanded into custody for next Wednesday in Broadview Court.
