Yorkton Chamber of Commerce Hosts First Business Luncheon Since March 2020

The first Yorkton Chamber of Commerce luncheon since March 2020 took place at Painted Hand Casino.

Guest speaker for the event was Jolene Watson of Clarity Coaching and Development, who spoke about the importance of identifying different people’s personality types in the workplace “to identify their strengths and help them further their career niche to increase productivity and increase joy in the workplace.”

She also gave advice on how to handle stress coming out of the pandemic from an individual’s perspective.

“What happens under stress is actually we flip our personality type, so the areas that we’ve avoided will come to the surface, and it’s important to know your triggers and what your responses might be so you can temper that, practice new behaviours to mitigate stress in the future.”

Watson notes that the pandemic was very difficult on people in the workplace, with many workers dealing with chronic stress.

“It’s important that leaders and employers know when their workers are returning to the workplace…there is about a 50-50 split on how people feel about that and the comfort levels. Some interviews might have to take place and making sure that everyone feels accommodated.” she explained.

Executive Director of the Yorkton Chamber of Commerce Juanita Polegi says it was “wonderful” to put on a luncheon for the first time in about 16 months, adding it’s great to have “people out and networking again.”

Polegi also had a positive review of Jolene Watson’s presentation at the luncheon.

“Her presentation was so informative and entertaining as well, so I’m sure that everyone today will take home some tidbits and keep those close to their heart.”
