An Abernethy Man Stood Trial For Assault

A trial has been held for one of two Abernethy residents arrested following a January, 2020 incident involving the alleged assault of police officers. RCMP were called to an Abernethy home to deal with a domestic dispute, and when Mounties tried to arrest the man, both suspects became aggressive, allegedly assaulting the officers. 25-year-old Brandon Poorman stood trial in Fort Qu’Appelle this week, and the matter was adjourned for the judge’s decision to October 27th. Last September, 20-year-old Marlee Quewezance pled guilty to Assaulting a Peace Officer, and in March she received an 18-month conditional discharge.
