Last night Russia president Vladimir Putin ordered troops to enter Russian controlled areas of southeast Ukraine following a decision to recognize the territories as independent states.

American President Joe Biden strongly condemned the actions of Putin.

In response, the US has declared full blocking sanctions on two large Russian financial institutions, sanctions on Russia’s sovereign debt, sanctions on Russian elites and their families, and they are working with Germany to ensure the Nord Stream Two does not move forward.

Biden promised that additional sanctions will be leveled against Russia, if Putin continues to take actions against Ukraine.
