Manitoba Education and Early Childhood Learning Minister Wayne Ewasko has announced that the province is providing over 1.4 million dollars for technology upgrades at 35 high schools.
Among local schools receiving funding, is one in the Swan Valley School Division, as the Swan Valley Regional Secondary School, which will receive almost $26,000 dollars for its Welding Technology Program.
In the Park West School Division, Major Pratt School in Russell will receive just over $26,000 in funding to support upgrades to its Metalwork Technology program.
In the Mountain View School Division, the Dauphin Regional Comprehensive Secondary School will be getting over $75,000 for its Automotive Technology program, while the Winnipegosis Collegiate Institute will receive over $31,500, for its Manufacturing Technology program.
The money is being provided through the Skills Strategy Equipment Enhancement (SSEEF), to support industrial arts and technical vocational programs, to ensure they have the equipment needed, to accurately resemble real-world work environments for students, while meeting industry and health and safety standards.
