The 75th Yorkton Film Festival wrapped up on Saturday night with the Golden Sheaf Awards Gala.

This was the first in-person festival since the COVID-19 pandemic, as the 2021 and 2020 events were held virtually.

“It’s just been full of energy, the buzz has just been incredible and they love our city, they love Yorkton,” said Executive Director of YFF Randy Goulden of this year’s festival.

“Watching when the film makers arrive and they’re giving big hugs to each other, and they’re just happy to be here in Yorkton. They’re taking the time to get around our City…and then of course our partnership with the Yorkton Lions Club and going out to Lobsterfest and enjoying the great hospitality out there.” she said of other highlights of the festival.

This year’s event marks the 75th anniversary of North America’s longest-running film festival, which began in 1947.

The Best of Festival Golden Sheafs Award was presented to Inuk filmmaker Jennie Williams for the film “Nalujuk Night”, while Colin Scheyen won the Ruth Shaw Best of Saskatchewan award for his film “Toxic Neighbour”.
