Yorkton-Melville MP asked to leave the House of Commons precinct

Conservative MP for Yorkton-Melville Cathay Wagantall was required to leave the House of Commons today (Fri).

Wagantall told reporters outside of Parliament that she was informed by the Tory House leader she could stay while the House was sitting, but had to leave by the end of the day.

Wagantall says she left on her own accord, but believed once the House rose, would have been apprehended and removed.

Last November, the House Board of Internal Economy required anyone accessing the precinct to show they’re fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or show a valid medical exemption.

Wagantall, who refuses to disclose her vaccination status, says she can’t take a train or fly due to the federal government’s vaccination rules, adding it takes about 3-and-a-half days to drive to Ottawa from her riding.
