The NORAD defense system, built during the cold war, and shared between Canada and the U.S, will be getting a much heeded upgrade. Defence minister Anita Annand says Ottawa will spend 5 billion dollars over 6 years on upgrades now needed as potential adversaries develop hypersonic weapons and cruise missiles. $5 billion will be spent over 6 years, and Annand says it’s the most significant upgrade to the system, built at the height of the cold war, in nearly 40 years.
