Ottawa Announces Health Funding For Manitoba

The federal government has announced funding for long term care homes in Manitoba. A new Safe Long-Term Care fund has been created, which will provide Manitoba with just over 37-million dollars in the 2021-22 fiscal year. The funding will be used to increase infection prevention, support staffing and operation costs, and help prevent any possible spread of COVID-19 in long-term care and personal care homes. Federal Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos says the COVID-19 pandemic showed the areas where the health-care system needed improvement, and this bilateral agreement is a step towards that.
