Saskatchewan NDP leader Carla Beck was the guest speaker at the Yorkton Chamber of Commerce Luncheon this afternoon (Thu).
She shared her views of the great potential that the province of Saskatchewan has for contributing to the world.
“The type of Ag innovation and high-tech Ag that we see coming out of Saskatchewan right now… that is world-leading technology, so that’s one example,” Beck said. “Also, fertilizer to increase those crop yields, that’s something that we have.”
Beck agrees that the City of Yorkton is a sleeping giant and has huge potential in the world of business.
“I grew up in a town of about 200 people, and if someone had a new business in town, much like Yorkton, everyone knew about it, they wanted to support it, that willingness to support local, the willingness to invite business here to Yorkton and communities like it is really an untapped resource that we ought to be promoting more.”
Chamber Executive Director Juanita Polegi was intrigued with hearing the NDP’s hope for the business community and the potential that Saskatchewan has.
“Whenever a party comes out and says they want better things for the economy and for the province as a whole, we sure hope they’re able to achieve it and have a plan in place to be able to do that.” Polegi said.
Polegi adds that she pleased with the turnout and the questions provided for Beck.
