Physician recruitment efforts continue in the Prairie Mountain Health Region (PMH), and more recently, got an additional 5 doctors practicing in the region.
PMH sponsored 5 doctors to complete the Medical Licensure Program for International Medical Graduates (MLPIMG) – a program that assists foreign-trained doctors in obtaining their medical license to be able to practice as a family physician in Manitoba.
Starting on September 19th are Shady Attalla in Virden, Samin Izadi in Swan River, Sidra Jawed in Neepawa, and Dina Koreen in Russell, and Dalia Bushara started in Roblin on Monday (Oct. 3).
PMH says in return for the sponsorship IMG doctors agree to practice in their respective communities for 4 years.
PMH says they’ll be sponsoring another 5 doctors who started the IMG program in June, and if successful, all 5 will be able to start within the health region sometime next fall.
