Melville City Council is holding a special meeting tonight (Mon) at City Hall at 6 p.m.

Council will be going over the 2023 Capital and Operating Budget, and a draft of the budget shows a proposed tax increase of 5.78 percent.

An interim budget was passed earlier this year so operations could continue as normal, and a 3rd-party review of the budget was conducted.

It was the result of budget deliberations starting later than scheduled due to the previous Finance Director leaving, and incorrect information in the City’s Asset Management Plan, related to increased costs of major capital projects, and its financial impacts.
