Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services charged a 28-year-old Birdtail Sioux First Nation resident in connection to a 2019 homicide on the reserve.

Cherisse McKay was remanded into custody on a Manslaughter charge.

On the evening of January 7th, 2019, the Manitoba First Nations Police Service responded to a 911 call from a home on the reserve, reporting an adult male in cardiac arrest.

But when officers arrived they discovered a 28-year-old man, from the Birdtail Sioux First Nation, deceased from an apparent stab wound. The investigation remains ongoing.
