The Yorkton and District Community Foundation held its annual general meeting on Tuesday (Mar. 28), handing out a total of $6,500 in grants to community organizations.
Among the grants handed out, were two through the YDCF Krepakevich Fund for Families – $1,625 to SIGN Family Support, and $888 to the Melville Arts Council.
Successful grant applications, that received funding through the YDCF Mental Health Fund, saw Dr. Brass School receive $1,399, while Big Brothers Big Sisters of Yorkton and Area received $226.
And three grants were given out through the YDCF’s General Community Fund – $800 to the Godfrey Dean Art Gallery, $781 to the Yorkton Arts Council, and $781 to Rail City Industries in Melville.
During the meeting, the YDCF also firmed up its board of directors, with two new members – David Balysky representing the City of Yorkton, and Darlene Stakiw – each elected to two-year terms, while Ray Bailey was re-elected to the board.
Returning to the YDCF board are: Andrew Rae, Candace Tendler, Trevor Plews, Victor Surjik, and Dick DeRyk.
