Saskatchewan Recognizes Aquatic Invasive Species Awareness Week

Saskatchewan is recognizing Aquatic Invasive Species Awareness Week, this week.

The Ministry of Environment launched its annual Clean, Drain and Dry campaign, while starting its watercraft inspection and waterbody monitoring programs.

The province is using the week to educate residents the potential harm caused by introducing non-native plants, fish and invertebrates into Saskatchewan’s waterbodies.

Once established, invasive species are nearly impossible to eliminate, and can significantly impact fisheries, costing million of dollars annually.
