A standoff in Yorkton on Tuesday (July 25) has resulted in the arrest of a Regina man, who remains in custody, and will make his first court appearance in Yorkton today (THURS).

36-year-old Aaron Meekis is charged with Break-and-Enter and Resisting Arrest, and he was also wanted by Regina Police for being Unlawfully at Large.

At approximately 9:15 Tuesday morning, Mounties responded to a report of a man armed with a firearm in a Maple Avenue residence, and upon arrival, confirmed the man was in the home, with no one else inside.

When he refused to come out, police called for additional resources, and set up a perimeter around the home.

Eventually, they were able to execute a search warrant, and entered the premises, locating the man and arresting him without incident.
