City of Melville replaces Traffic lights in downtown core

For decades Melville has been known as a city with just two traffic lights but that has changed now.

The traffic lights that were located at the corners from 3rd avenue & Queen Street and 3rd avenue & Main Street have been replaced with flashing 4-way stop signs.

Mayor Walter Streelasky says the lights which had lots of wiring problems just became to costly to maintain, with the city’s priority set on other major infrastructure projects around the community
