Today, Official Opposition Leader Carla Beck and the Saskatchewan NDP challenged the Moe Government to suspend the provincial fuel tax.
Pausing the tax would cut costs and save Saskatchewan families 15 cents per litre and more than 14 cents carbon tax.
Beck added that the government’s priority should be ensuring hardworking people fill their tanks, stock their fridges, and put gifts under the tree stress-free.
Alberta, Newfoundland and Labrador have already provided gas tax relief, and Manitoba’s is set to go into effect on January 1st, 2024.
The policy is expected to be debated next week and, if passed, will be reviewed after six months.
