Swan Valley Food Bank receives donation from GX94 “Christmas Goodies” cookbook

The Swan Valley Food Bank is the latest organization to receive a one-thousand-dollar donation, raised through the sales of the GX94 “Christmas Goodies” cookbook.

GX94 Midday Host Tonya Cherry (l) presents a $1,000 donation to Swan Valley Food Bank Treasurer and Coordinator Phyllis Hunt (r).

Treasurer and Coordinator Phyllis Hunt says the need for the food bank’s services continues to grow, noting they assist families from a wide area, extending as far as 70 kilometres from Swan River, to communities including Duck Bay, Mafeking, and Benito.

Hunt says the money will be used to purchase food items, including canned goods, to keep the food bank’s shelves stocked.

As an example of how much the need for the food bank has increased, Hunt says they are preparing 234 Christmas Hampers for local families this year, up from 148 in 2022.
