Alright folks, let’s take a moment to appreciate the awesomeness that is Benny Walchuk! This guy is not only crazy passionate about hockey, and calling his team’s games, but he’s also got a heart of gold. (Sometimes!) I bugged him and bugged him yesterday, asking for some pics from the road and of him and the team. And guess what? Benny actually came through!
Benny and the Mills traveled to North Battleford yesterday, a nice 5 hour trip. Say hi to Mike, their awesome bus driver! The roads were good and the trip was smooth. I specifically asked him for pictures of his food. I always bug Benny about what he eats on the road, because it is SO healthy. Instead of chips and candy, he’s munching on carrots and drinking water. Sigh, of course that’s why he’s so healthy and every one of his suits fit him. (Do I sound jealous?)
Checked into their hotel, food eaten, game suit on, Benny and the team were ready for the night.
They fact that Benny picked up the phone today, huge! That’s what the above audio is, my chat with Benny this morning. I think I can forgive him for all of the burns he’s given me on the air recently. It was a tough 7-4 lose for the Mills but they are hoping to redeem themselves tonight in Kindersley.
