New court date for Dauphin man charged in January assault

A new court date has been set for a Dauphin man charged in connection with a January assault in the city.

On the evening of January 3rd, Mounties were called to an apartment building on Whitmore Avenue, on a report of two men fighting in a hallway.

An intoxicated 30-year-old man in a hallway said he had been in a scrap with a 52-year-old man, who was found seriously injured in an apartment down the hal, and refused to speak with police after being taken to hospital.

Mounties say the 30-year-old became aggressive while being arrested, and that while being put into cells, the behaviour continued, with the suspect allegedly assaulting and spitting on officers.

30-year-old Shayne Lavallee will be back in Dauphin Court March 19th, on charges including Assault Causing Bodily Harm, and two counts of Assaulting a Police Officer.
