Re-infected with Pink Eye – Confessions Of A Not So Germaphobe

Oh, the joys of being a not-so-germaphobe trying to navigate the world of germs! It seems like no matter how many Lysol wipes I use or how often I wash my hands, there’s always a new germ lurking around the corner. And don’t even get me started on trying to keep my kids germ-free – it’s like fighting a losing battle.

My 6-year-old understands the importance of cleanliness, but my 3-year-old is a little germ factory, touching everything in sight and then putting those fingers all over his face. And just when I thought I had it all under control, pink eye strikes again! Despite all my precautions, it seems like I may have re-infected myself. I had the worst case ever, for a week.  I did the drops, over the counter and the prescription ones.  I stopped wearing makeup, took all of the precautions,  cleaning my brushes, palettes, and throwing out any liquid eye makeup.  Ordered all new stuff (and that isn’t cheap).  I thought I was out of the woods.  Granted, my eyes were still a little off when I woke up in the mornings, and my one eye was slightly puffy yesterday morning.  Should I have NOT done my makeup.  Hell yes!  Did I listen to my gut feeling NOPE! And now … I think I re-infected my brand new makeup and my eye.

Maybe I should take a cue from Danny Ismond, the germaphobe extraordinaire, and ramp up my germ-fighting game. I hate it when he’s right and I MIGHT be wrong. Might is the word. Happy Tuesday, everyone! -Tonya Cherry-

Side note: The back story on the video below, Danny is using the microphone that I used when I first got into the studio this morning. You CAN’T get pink eye from talking into the same microphone, but I had to force a kicking and screaming Danny to come on the air with me and use that mic (I’m sitting in the announcer chair by this time) and that’s a Lysol wipe on the microphone.) And my boss, well it’s kind of like he’s the dad in the room trying to make his two kids behave when it comes to Danny and I.
