Habitat Saskatchewan’s Yorkton Chapter Begins Construction on New Home

Today marked the 10th sod-turning event for the Habitat for Humanity Yorkton Chapter.

New home-owner Alexis Chartrand and her kids, who were selected for this project, were on hand for the special day and said it was an emotional day.

Construction on the home began May 16th, and Once completed, it will be a 1008-square-foot bungalow with four bedrooms and a finished basement.

Home construction was only made possible with the major contributions of the Saskatchewan Housing Corporation, Canadian Morgatge, and Housing, among others.

Co-chairs Tom Seeley and Sylvia Henheffer have been involved since the beginning and are proud to have started building their 10th home.

“Our dedicated team of volunteers truly loves what we do,” said Henheffer. “We work hard to help families in need in this community, and we are looking forward to helping build many homes in the future,” added Henheffer.

Yorkton has been an active chapter of Habitat for Humanity Saskatchewan for 14 years.
