My vacation cleanup project.

On my vacation last week, I decided to embark on a different kind of adventure—one that didn’t involve sandy beaches or far-off destinations, but rather a transformative project right in my own backyard. My firepit area had slowly turned into a chaotic mess of branches, leaves, and debris, making it impossible to enjoy. Armed with determination and a heap of gardening tools, I set out to reclaim the space. What began as a daunting task of clearing away the overgrowth soon turned into a labor of love. I spent countless hours raking, hauling, and carefully organizing the area. Each swipe of the rake and each bundle of branches removed brought me closer to my vision. Slowly but surely, order emerged from the chaos, and my firepit area began to reveal its former glory. Now, as I step back to admire the fruits of my labor, I can’t help but feel a surge of pride.

The firepit is now a serene and welcoming haven, perfect for cozy nights under the stars. I can already picture the warm glow of the fire, the soft crackle of the logs, and the laughter of friends and family as we gather to share stories and roast marshmallows. There’s something incredibly special about transforming a neglected space into a place of joy and relaxation. This project reminded me that sometimes, the best vacations are those where you create something beautiful with your own hands. I can’t wait to make a lifetime of new memories in this beautifully revamped firepit area

Of course the firepit zone probably won’t get used very often, after all nobody used it the last two years and I didn’t hear any complaints. But there comes a point where all the leaves have become so sturdy on the stones that they basically become sod it was time to do something. I look forward to having marshmallows one night this year and then removing ten thousand leaves again next year.
