The death of a teenage girl in Easterville,Manitoba is under investigation by Chemawawin RCMP.

At about 2:10 Friday morning, police were called to a report of a deceased female found in an open area in the community.

At the scene, officers found a 16-year-old girl with obvious injuries, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are treating the death as a homicide, and a male is in custody, having been arrested in connection with the homicide.

Chemawawin RCMP, RCMP Major Crime Services and Forensic Identification Services continue to investigate.
