Guilty plea in connection with drug seizure at Grace Lake airport

A new development in the case of a Surrey, B.C. man facing drug charges, stemming from the discovery of a package containing illicit drugs at the Grace Lake airport.

The package was dropped off at the airport on August 25 of last year, destined for Pukatawagan.

When airport workers inspected it, they found about 14-hundred prescription pills and 770 grams of cannabis inside.

On Friday in The Pas, 36-year-old Michael Rushnell admitted to Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of Cannabis for the Purpose of Distribution, with the remaining charges against him stayed by the Crown Prosecutor.

Rushnell was given a conditional sentence of two years less a day.
