Man charged following May 11 incident on Sapotaweyak Cree Nation returns to court

A new court date has been set for a man charged following an incident on the Sapotaweyak Cree Nation earlier this year.

On May 11, Swan River Mounties received reports of a man wielding a weapon and threatening people on the reserve, before the suspect allegedly took a family member’s vehicle, possibly hitting someone on an ATV.

Officers located and tried to stop him, but he fled, driving recklessly, and after crashing the vehicle, he was taken into custody, with the help of community members.

26-year-old Errol Leask remains in custody on multiple charges, and he’ll make his next appearance in Swan River Court on July 17.
