A Harmonious Journey: Discovering the Magic of The Sapphires

Hey everyone! Guess what? I’ve been keeping my New Year’s resolution to watch movies I’ve never seen before, and I’m pretty proud of myself for sticking to it!

So, I finally got around to watching The Sapphires. Let me tell you…it was absolutely worth the wait! If you haven’t seen it yet, you’re in for a treat. The movie is a charming mix of heartfelt moments, humor, and, most importantly, incredible music! It’s based on the true story about these Aboriginal Australian women, all from the same family, who decide to form a soul singing group and go to Vietnam to entertain the soldiers during the war in the 60s.

One of the highlights from the soundtrack for me was their cover of Merle Haggard’s “Today I Started Loving You Again”. Chills, literal chills! Their rendition was so moving. If you love a good cover, this one is definitely going to give you all the feels.

The Sapphires is such a feel-good movie with a lot of heart. It’s based on a true story, which makes it even more special. The performances are top-notch, and the characters are so relatable and lovable. I laughed, I cried, and I sang along (sorry, neighbors!). Don’t get me wrong, it is a little corny, but in the best way possible!

You can watch The Sapphires on Netflix but it’s leaving on July 22. So grab some popcorn, cozy up, and get ready for a musical journey that’ll leave you smiling. Until next time, happy movie watching!
