The Timeless Charm of DVDs in the Streaming Age

Hey friends! 🌟 I saw we were blogging about our collections and I want to talk about mine.

In a world where streaming is on top, guess what? I still love my trusty DVDs! Sure, it’s amazing to have countless shows and movies just a click away, but there’s something so special about owning the disc. From complete TV series box sets to all my favorite films, my DVD stash is my little treasure trove.

One of the best parts about DVDs? The bonus features! Behind-the-scenes looks, deleted scenes, the blooper reel – it’s like getting a backstage pass to the movie. With streaming, you often miss out on these cool extras. Even when I was a kid, the DVD for Madagascar had so much more than just the movie. It had multiple games and activities, and it even had a scavenger hunt in the disc menu! Those tiny gems make watching DVDs such a delightful experience.

And let’s talk about the ease. You don’t have to scroll through endless menus trying to remember which streaming service has the movie you want. My DVDs are always right where I left them, ready to play. It’s like having a reliable, old friend. No stress just pure enjoyment.

Here’s a fun fact: I use a PlayStation 2 as my DVD player! Yep, this vintage console, which my awesome aunt found at a garage sale, is now the heart of my movie nights. There’s something super nostalgic about using it to watch my movies. It reminds me of having sleepovers with my cousin where we’d play Dance Dance Revolution and watch all the Austin Powers movies.

So, even though streaming is super convenient, I can’t help but love my DVD collection. It’s got a personal touch and a bit of tradition that streaming just can’t match. Whether it’s the joy of discovering a long-lost favourite in the thrift store or the thrill of finally owning the complete series of a beloved show, DVDs bring the joy to my entertainment world. And as long as my trusty PlayStation 2 keeps spinning those discs, I’ll be happily enjoying my old-school DVDs.
