The RCMP Musical Ride at the Northwest Roundup and Exhibition in Swan River

I got the very cool experience of Emceeing the RCMP Musical Ride at the Northwest Roundup and Exhibition in Swan River this past weekend. I had never seen the ride before, and it hadn’t been in Swan River for nearly 20 years.

Now I have to be honest, I didn’t want to. I still get nervous when I do new things. Yes, speaking in front of a crowd of thousands of people isn’t new, but speaking while the RCMP are riding around is! The Boss said that he got to do it years ago, and it was a really cool experience. Then Danny chimed in that he emceed it when it was in Yorkton a few years ago. So it was my turn. I wouldn’t want to miss out on the chance to say yes, I have emceed the RCMP Musical Ride.

Danny would say I complained too much about it the day of. I was nervous and I feel better when I whine about things. (Much to his and Lindsay’s chagrin! Aren’t they lucky we got to hang out all weekend!)

When it came down to it though, it was probably one of the easiest emcee duties I have ever done. Gerry was the man in charge of running the ride from the sound booth. He was so organized, had a very laid out plan, and script for me. It couldn’t have been better. Plus I got to watch the ride from a vantage point that most people don’t get the chance to.
