Carlyle RCMP Arrest Suspect After High-Speed Pursuit

Carlyle RCMP has arrested a male for erratic driving.

On August 31st, around 9:20 PM, Mounties received a report that the driver was leaving Kenosee Lake and travelling toward Carlyle.

Officers located the vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed northbound on Highway #9 and set up tire deflation devices; the driver ran it over, deflating all four tires and slowing the vehicle.

The driver continued to flee from police, and finally, they were able to catch the suspect after he reached a dead end near Kenossee Lake.

Further investigation determined the vehicle was stolen from Alberta.

19-year-old Ashton Retieffe is charged with two counts of flight from police, two counts of dangerous operation of motor vehicle, three counts of possession of property obtained by crime, and two other charges.

He made his first court appearance yesterday in Weyburn.
