Last weekend, The Pas RCMP responded to a call for assistance at a residence.

A male suspect, behaving threateningly, assaulted an officer during an attempted arrest, causing serious injury.

The suspect fled but was later arrested on a nearby road.

31-year-old Harvey Bignell from Opaskwayak Cree Nation, was found to be violating his house arrest, and faces multiple charges, including assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest. He remains in custody.

The injured officer has been treated and released from the hospital.
