Yorkton City Council approves Bylaw amendment to address unsafe outdoor living

Yorkton City Council approved an amendment to the Fire Prevention Bylaw last night to tackle unsafe outdoor living conditions.

This Bylaw sets crucial guidelines to enhance community safety and protect vulnerable populations.

Yorkton is dedicated to a people-first strategy when assisting homeless individuals living outdoors. 

With a strong commitment to human rights, they understand the complex needs of those living outdoors and are collaborating with various stakeholders to remove barriers to assistance. 

The city also pledged to unite stakeholders and local community-based organizations to provide resources and effectively address issues related to mental health, addictions, and homelessness.
