A full house was on hand as the Yorkton Brick Mill Heritage Society held its sixth annual fundraising dinner Wednesday night at St. Mary’s Cultural Centre.

Heritage Society President Larry Pearen was pleased with the evening, which featured keynote speaker Brian Conn, the Manager of Canadian Operations for Louis Dreyfus Company.

Conn spoke to LDC’s continued growth, including the expansion of its Yorkton facility, which will see the doubling of its canola crush capacity to two million tonnes per year, along with the addition of pea protein isolate facility.

As well, an update on the Brick Mill interpretive centre noted that with exterior work done, work will pause over the winter, to provide time for more fundraising, in order to complete work on the building’s interior, as the expected cost to complete the project has risen from $2.2 to $3.2 million dollars.
