Man Charged After Bison Shot on Manitoba Farm

A man has been charged after an illegal shooting and theft of six bison from a farm in the RM of Russell that was reported on Monday.

The victim became aware after finding his pasture lock had been changed, prompting him to check trail camera footage.

The footage shows four suspects shooting and removing the animals.

The following day, the owner found a fake ad prompting a bison hunt for 1000 per bison. Three people responded to the ad, believing it was legit and fully cooperated with the investigation.

52-year-old Gerald Sean Gebler, of Portage la Prairie, was charged with Theft and Mischief over $5,000.

He turned himself in yesterday and is set to appear in court on January 22, 2025.

Russell Mounties continue to investigate.
