$1,000.00 Donation to the Swan Valley Food Bank

We made our first donation of the 2024 Christmas Season. This past Thursday we donated $1,000.00 to the Swan Valley Food Bank. That brings us to $7,000.00 being donated to the Food Bank in the past decade.

Phyllis Hunt with the Swan Valley Food Bank said the money will be used to stock their shelves for the holiday season and the hampers they will need to make. Click the audio link above to hear the full news story.

GX94 was able to make this donation again, from the proceeds raised from the sale of the GX94 Christmas Goodies cookbook. This cookbook happens because GX94 listeners send me their recipes, and because local businesses become sponsors of the cookbook.

Julie and the Empty Bobbin is one such sponsor. For the 3rd year in a row, Julie has partnered with GX94 to bring the cookbook to her business. I was selling the cookbooks at the Empty Bobbin last week in Swan River, and because we were able to do that, the money raised goes right back into the community.

I had GX94 listeners drive in from all over the Swan Valley to get their books. Some even brought me some baking and recipes! Thank you so much for that! The lady in the picture on the right is from Benito and has sent me recipes since the very first year we started the GX94 Christmas Goodies cookbook! It means so much to me to have listeners still participate in this endeavor even after all of these years.

I was happy to be able to have Julie from the Empty Bobbin join us when we made the donation to the Swan Valley Food Bank. Connecting her and Phyllis was a feel good moment. I love my job, I love our listening area, the communities in it, and all of our GX94 listening area. I say this all of the time, but this is definitely the best part of the GX94 Christmas Goodies cookbooks and the holiday season. One donation down, 9 more to go.
