While more known for her pop music, Sabrina has dabbled in country a bit. She’s done a song with Dan + Shay & Charlie Puth, and her latest album Short ‘n’ Sweet does feature a country ballad “Slim Pickins,” but I wasn’t expecting the country vibes to shine through in her Christmas special, and yet they kinda did.
The moment that truly caught me off guard (in the best way possible!) was when the iconic Shania Twain appeared as Mrs. Claus. Yes, you read that right! Watching Shania and Sabrina team up for a rendition of “Santa Baby” was wonderful! And as if that wasn’t enough, Sean Astin joins the fun as Santa Claus, adding to the star-studded lineup.
Beyond the musical numbers, the special is full of hilarious sketches along with some seriously impressive sets and costumes. Sabrina doesn’t shy away from pushing the envelope with tongue-in-cheek product placements and witty double entendres. It is a TV-14 special after all! Perfect for a night in with friends, but maybe give the kiddos something else to watch.
