Chemawawin Cree Nation man charged with Aggravated Assault after weekend incident

A 20-year-old Chemawawin Cree Nation man has been charged with Aggravated Assault, in connection with a violent incident at a home on the reserve over the weekend.

On Saturday afternoon, Mounties were called to a report of an alleged assault that resulted in a man being treated at the Easterville Nursing Station.

There, RCMP members found a 25-year-old man suffering from stab wounds to the chest, and he was later airlifted to hospital in Winnipeg, where he is in stable condition.

The incident was found to have happened at a home on Frankway Drive in Chemawawin, where the accused was found, and following his arrest, he was released from custody, to appear in court on February 20.
