We made a $1,000.00 donation to Filling the Gap in Canora this holiday season. Brett Watson, Pastor of the Parkland Christian Centre and Chairman of the Canora Ministerial which oversees the Filling the Gap Foodbank met with us at GX94 to receive the cheque. I met his wife Mavis who is in charge of Filling the Gap Foodbank last year when we made our donation.
Brett said that every year the need for the foodbank goes up and up. More and more people are utilizing it, and the foodbank runs year round.
We couldn’t make this donation in Canora without the help of a Canora business, so an enormous THANK YOU goes out to the Gateway Co-op in Canora. This is the 3rd year they have participated in the GX94 Christmas Goodies cookbook, having us at their store to sell the cookbook. That puts at $3,000.00 donated back in Canora.
The night before we had just gotten a huge dump of snow, I think really the first for this winter. I wasn’t sure how many listeners would be able to make it out but you guys are champs and all came! We sold out and had such a lovely day at the Co-op.
If you would like the GX94 Christmas Goodies cookbooks to come to your town next year, go to your favourite local business and ask them to be apart of this great promotion! We will be able to donate money right back in your community then, at Christmas time! -Tonya Cherry-
