The mayor of Pelly says no one was injured in a fire that destroyed the village’s grocery store overnight.

Trevor Auchstatter says it’s a major loss for the community, especially for the many elderly residents who regularly shop there.
Auchstaetter, who also serves on the local fire department, says at this point, the cause of the blaze has yet to be determined, though they know it started at the back of the building.
He notes firefighters were able to save the building next door.
He is asking residents to avoid Main Street if possible for now, as there’s still a lot of smoke in the area.
