Lately, I’ve been on a bit of a nostalgia trip, reminiscing about the 2000s. It’s wild to think about all the things that were part of our everyday lives back then, things today’s kids might never get to experience.
Remember watching TV and suddenly needing a quick bathroom break? With no pause button, it was a mad dash hoping to make it back before the commercial break ended. Someone would always shout, “It’s ON!” just as you’d throw yourself over the couch, heart racing like you were in an action movie!
And who could forget the magic of heading to Blockbuster or Rogers Video? The excitement of looking for that new movie you wanted to rent, the smell of popcorn, and finding a familiar favourite you haven’t seen in ages. Standing there, watching whatever movie was playing on the in-store TV was my favourite. I can still point out all the old video store buildings in my hometown.
Let’s not forget the thrill of your favourite artist dropping a new album. Peeling off the plastic, putting the CD into your CD player, and listening to the album from start to finish was a special kind of joy. Sometimes, you found a masterpiece; other times, you realized the singles were the only hits. But that was all part of the fun!
Time moves on, and while these memories are golden for all of us who grew up or even just lived in the 2000s, I know today’s generation will have their own special moments to look back on. Whether it’s through the latest tech or a digital archive, nostalgia will find its way into their hearts too. But for us, these moments will always hold a special place in all our hearts. 💿📺🍿
