HAWKS 2, TERRIERS 3
The Yorkton Terriers snapped their two game losing skid on Friday night with a 3-2 victory over the visiting Nipawin Hawks at the Westland Insurance Arena.
William Leonard, Thomas Ries and Tate Schofer scored for the Terriers as they got out to a 3-0 lead early in the second period.
The Hawks clawed their way back within one with goals from Mason Karakochuk and Eric Hoiness but that’s as close as they would get.
Terriers captain Jaron Desnoyers had two helpers in his return to the Terrier lineup from injury.
Terriers’ netminder Ethan Farrow made 25 saves on 27 shots to earn the win, while Hawks goalie Gage Roberts made 32 stops in the loss.
The Terriers will go right back at it on Saturday night hosting their Viterra division rivals, the Weyburn Red Wings at 7:00 PM.
MILLIONAIRES 6, NORTH STARS 3
Meanwhile the Terriers Highway 10 rivals, the Melville Millionaires were also victorious on Friday night.
The Moneymen completed their two game sweep in North Battleford with a 6-3 win over the Battlefords North Stars.
Jadon Iyogun and Brendan Olson led the way for the Mils with 1G 1A each while 17 year old Preston Baerwald had two assists.
Jett Fogle, Simon Parini, Raiden Zacharais and Gaborik Carlson also scored for Melville, who got 25 stops from Ben Laurette in the win.
Nikita Ivashchenko, Michael Carter and Kobe Sawyer replied for the North Stars.
The Millionaires return to action on Sat. Feb 1st visiting the Nipawin Hawks to begin a weekend home and home series.
