A precautionary drinking water advisory has been issued for the Town of Preeceville following a water main break that caused a loss of pressure in the local water system. Officials warn that the safety of the drinking water cannot be guaranteed at all times.
Residents are advised to boil all water used for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth for at least one minute before use. Water should also be boiled before washing fruits and vegetables, making ice, or preparing food and beverages that will not be heated. Dishwashing with tap water should be avoided unless the water has been boiled or the dishes have been sanitized with a bleach solution. Public drinking fountains should not be used, and young children and infants should be sponge bathed.
The advisory will remain in effect until authorities confirm that the water supply is safe. Residents with concerns or questions can contact local water officials or the Water Security Agency for more information.
